How Your Smartphone Can Affect Your Vision

Many youth today are so addicted to their smartphones and even go to bed with it. Using your smartphone at night is not wrong but always reduce the brightness of the screen at night. The bluelight from personal electronic devices has also been linked to serious physical and mental health problems according to study.

The American Macular Degeneration Foundation warns that retinal damage of this nature may lead to macular degeneration, which causes the loss of central vision(ability to see what is in front of you)

Bluelight is a colour in the visible light spectrum that can be seen by the human eye.

We are exposed to this bluelight by the sun everyday. At night, the high level of brightness of your smartphones LED screen may be damaging your eyesight. Study says it suppresses production of the hormone melatonin which throes off your body's natural sleep cues.

You have a higher risk of depression which may develop to cancer when your melatonin levels and sleep go haywire.

We should avoid constant direct contact with the bluelight as it can cause damage to the retina. The bluelight can also ruin your sleep because it disrupts the brain's production of melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate the sleep cycle. This can give you severe headache.

Conclusion
Always keep your device a bit far from the eyes and take a break from your computer and mobile phones.
